Описание

Depositional and petrophysical controls on the volumes of hydrocarbons trapped in the Messinian reservoirs, onshore Nile Delta, Egypt Accurate calculations of STOIIP and GIIP are crucial for hydro- carbon exploration and development. Therefore, they are the most important priority tasks before defining the economically pro- spective reserves. The STOIIP and GIIP values are controlled by the percentage of the best reservoir quality facies in the geologic model. Therefore, accurate facies modelling approach is very crucial in hydrocarbon volumes calculations. Facies modelling was carried out on the basis of the available well data (well logs and cores). In WD Field, zone 1 contains the sediments of the distal part of the delta accumulated in distal sand bars, tidally-influenced mouthbars and distributary channels . Zone 2 represents the pro- grading deltaic sediments and enriched in coarse-grained materials accumulated in the delta-plain and proximal delta-front (Fig. 19). Several models were used in order to investigate the impact of channel width/thickness ratio (W/T) on the calculated STOIIP and GIIP. For the delta distributary channels, the most com- mon W/T ratios are ranging from 5 to 30. The width of the Qawasim distributary channels is unknown, however the maximum amalgamated thickness based on the sedimentological facies analyses, is approximately 25 m. The initial W/T ratio increases from 5 in model 1 to 30 in model 4 corresponding to an increase in the width of delta distributary channels from 125 m in model 1e750 m in model 4. Both the STOIIP and GIIP in- crease linearly with increasing the width of the channels and the W/T ratio. The volume of the actual oil reserves in WD Field is 8 Mm3, whereas the gas reserves is 3.19 Bm3, consistent with the STOIIP and GIIP values from model 1 (W/T 1⁄4 5) indicating that the actual width of an individual distributary channel is approximately 125 m.
